How To: Makeup Tips For Glasses Wearers

I have terrible vision. On the days I'm not tired, I wear my contacts and on the days that I am tired, I wear my glasses to cover up any dark circles or signs of tiredness. Not only can eyeglasses drown out your dark circles (which is a good thing), but they can also drown out your makeup. If you are near-sided, like me, your glasses will make your eyes appear diminished, or smaller in size. Wearing glasses doesn't mean you can't wear fun and colorful makeup. Following these pictures, there are some quick tips and tricks to make your eyes appear larger, and how to make your makeup stand out more behind your glasses.

1. Use fun and bright colors.
If you don't have thick, dark glasses frames, use a fun color such as kelly green (like I used), Fuschia, turquoise, purple, orange, etc. and apply it to your crease. These colors will draw attention to your eyes and are always appealing.

2. Use a matte, off white shadow for your lid color.
This will make your eye appear larger, brighter, and more awake.

3. Place a darker color along the outer V, and into the crease. This will give some definition to your eyes, and make them stand out even more.

4. HIGHLIGHT.
I can't stress this enough. Place a white or cream colored shadow on your brow bone (under your eyebrows) and in the INNER CORNER of your eye. This is probably the most important step for glasses wearers, for it makes the eye appear larger, brighter, and more awake. You'll see a big difference when you do this, trust me.

5. Liquid Eyeliner and WHITE eyeliner.
Use Liquid liner to the line the top lash line of your lids. Create a nice smooth, thick or thin line. Using a liquid or gel liner instead of an eye pencil creates a more defined, and dramatic look that will stand out more behind frames. Using a white eyeliner on your lower waterline is extremely important for near sided glasses wearer. One again, using white will make your eyes appear larger, brighter, and more awake.

6. Waterproof Mascara
Waterproof Mascara is extremely important for glasses wearers as well. If you use regular mascara, it will flake, and cause smudging, and will build up at the bottom of your frames. Add an extra coat or two  so your lashes stand out more behind your frames.

7. Fill in your brows.
Don't make them too dark, but define the shape of them with a brow pencil or powder. Your glasses bring attention to your eyes, and your eyebrows frame your glasses.

Other Tips for this makeup look:
-Apply a lip color that is complementary to your eyeshadow. Since I used green shadow, I used a reddish pink lipstain and gloss. If you use blue, or turquoise eyeshadow, you can use a peach, or coral lip color, etc.
-I didn't put on a lot of blush because I payed more attention to my eyes and lips, and didn't want to have too much makeup on.

Note: *You do not have to use colors if you are not comfortable wearing them. You can do a neutral eye with liquid liner, and white eyeliner on the lower waterline and you'll look just as stunning behind your frames. Don't forget...highlighting is key!

This is a Revlon, Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel in the color Stormy. I love the color purple, and my favorite shade of purple is grey-purple. This is a taupe, brownish, grey purple. It's almost too complex to describe. I think it's beautiful, and it's one of my new favorites.
